This course is the first step into the Dark Angels way of writing, which is all about making a human connection with our words.
For more than 20 years we’ve been sharing the idea that our writing truly connects when we draw on what makes us each uniquely human. As the rise of Artificial Intelligence continues to threaten the livelihood of writers and the value of human writing, this message feels more important than ever.
We’re limiting the course to just six places, as we want to create an online space that allows for a depth of connection. Neil Baker will be hosting things, with guest tutors from the Dark Angels family. As always, the course is open to people of all abilities, and you don’t need to think of yourself as ‘A Writer’ to participate. And if you’ve done the course before, you’re welcome to come again – it’s always a bit different.
What will we do?
The Dark Angels approach is about bringing personality to everything you write. If you want to improve the way you write at work, we’ll help you build your creative confidence and find the words, language and stories that break through and make powerful connections.
You’ll do lots of short, fast-moving writing exercises. There’ll be discussions and time for personal writing. You’ll draw on techniques from the best writers in many genres, including business communications. And there will be writing prompts and experiments for you to work with between sessions.

When is it?
Six two-hour sessions, every fortnight:
Wednesday mornings, UK time – 9.30am-11.30am
Session dates are: October 2, 16, 30. November 13, 27. December 11.
If this course appeals to you but the dates or times don’t work, please let us know. We might be able to create a second cohort.
What will it cost?
We want to make the course as inclusive as possible, so we trust you to choose from one of the following:
£750 – The normal rate: if you are self-employed, paying with your own funds, or work in the third sector
£1,125 – The corporate rate: if your commercial employer is paying
£495 – The subsidised rate: if this is genuinely what you can afford just now (we won’t ask you to prove it!)
