Intensive Foundation Course

Tutors: Mike Gogan and Jamie Jauncey

Our 2-day / 3-night residential course gives you time and space for a more transforming experience. Go deeper into the Dark Angels philosophy and enjoy more time to experiment and reflect on your learning.

Venue & facilities

Loughcrew House may have been razed to the ground in a fire (a contradictory-sounding idiom if ever there was one), but nothing has extinguished its hearty history and homely legacy.

We hold our Dark Angels course in the restored original servants’ quarters. These are set quirkily around a neat cobbled farmyard with its echoes of the solid, stately original house.

A big common room warms curious minds in the glow of its open fire and serves as a dining area and group space for our exercises. In other little nooks and crannies such as the orangery, ruined church, coffee shop and gardens you’ll find space and stimulation for your own work. And late, come to rest in a cosy bedroom tucked away down a stone stairwell, or cornered off a landing.

Emily Napier owns and runs the house with her partner Charles and a team of friendly helpers. It’s a haven of quaint comfort and easy-going Irish charm.

Getting here

Loughcrew is about an hour-and-a-half by car from Dublin via M3. See Google Map directions. We usually have a shared taxi from Dublin Airport so if you need a lift, just ask.

"It was an experience I'll remember for the rest of my life, and a bit of a personal epiphany. I wasn't sure I was brave enough to sign up – and I approached the course in a state of blind panic. But I'm so glad I came. Within an hour of returning, after an eight hour journey, I was writing. First thing the following morning, I started writing. It certainly lit a spark in me."
