Dark Angels Note 153

Dearest Friends

Welcome back to our weekly Friday Note.

Observing

On Wednesday this week, it was National Writing Day in the UK, an “annual celebration of writing for pleasure and self-expression.”

Led by the charity First Story, its aim is to encourage writing at home, school or work, and provides free resources and activities for schools or that people can join in with online.

This year, their creative writing activity, Roll the dice, uses random words and chance number generation to create a poem.

Watching

The above activity was created by spoken word artist and former UK Slam Poetry Champion John Berkavitch.

Watch him in action as he performs A short list of things that we all already know.

Writing

For a quick creative challenge, try the ‘Roll the dice’ activity above.

For a quicker challenge, simplify it. Take six words at random by observing your surroundings. Use those six words to create a six line poem.

Sharing

Keep sending us your poems, writings, links and writerly whatnots that you’d like to share with the wider Dark Angels family. We love to read them.
